New York Diary is not a photo book in the traditional sense. It tells the story of a young woman from East Germany who comes to New York City in the late 1990s and is discovered as a fashion model. The story is told in three parts: through photographic snapshots of the city and through memorabilia such as notes, Polaroids, behind-the-scenes shots, fashion editorials, and campaigns. An ode to New York City in the late 1990s. A portrait. A self-portrait. A diary of sorts.
